Visit of the castle
There is central car park in the valley of the river Berounka available for visitors coming by cars and buses. The way in the left bank part of the village and to the castle is considerably limited by road signs. In addition to the castle itself it is possible to visit the Museum of cribs and within former parish a Waxmuseum and the House of clocks. The
grandeur of the castle is best to enjoy on your way on foot from the car park or from the station. The same pleasure you can enjoy using a horse-drawn coach. Transportation is also provided by several minibuses. On the route to the castle you can buy souvenirs and have a good time in some of the ten of restaurants. Sightseeings
The castle Karlštejn is surrounded by five picturesque hills, which are part of the national natural reservation. This extends over the area of 1547 ha and it was declared in 1955 and belongs to significant protected areas of Europe.
Geologically it belongs to Barrandién and is formed by Palaeozoic limestones and slates. In the village on the bank of the river Berounka towers out a well known Budňanská rock, recognized internationally as a geologic boundary line of Silur and Devon. There are oak-hornbeam groves and wild rose oak-woods prevailing in the reservation. The reservation is accessible thru tourist paths net and thru a special learning path. There is a residence of the administration of the protected landscape area Český kras, declared in 1972 ( www.ochranaprirody.cz ).
Sports and leisure 
For sport lovers there is a caravan site, well maintained tennis courts, football and volleyball courts available. For demanding visitors there is first class fitted 18-hole golf court with a marvellous view of the castle and broad surroundings available ( www.karlstejn-golf.cz ).
